As a rest stop between the spirit and human realms, Ryōkan Onibi has been gaining in popularity amongst esoteric travelers. The world surrounding the Inn is locked in perpetual dusk. A luminous chill and fog envelope the road and seem to push those travelers towards the mysterious, yet welcoming light.
I discovered something recently that I believe may be of interest to many of you. As the okami (or Inn manager), I have set to work to clean out unused rooms and make them available and comfortable for your inevitable stay. While doing so, a relic was found tucked away amongst some other dusty artifacts. This Kappa hand has been bound with ofuda (talismans of protection), but upon first seeing it, I felt a cold and clammy hand placed firmly on the back of my neck. Legend says that those that possess the hand of a Kappa will be protected from their attempts to drown you. Though, if I recall correctly, the last owner was drowned by another person, mad with jealousy. What I don't remember is how it arrived back in my storehouse.
This Kappa hand is very similar to the one found at Sogenji Temple (or Kappa-dera) in Tokyo. I think it would be a good idea to leave an offering of a cucumber.
The box is 7.5" tall (19cm), 5.5" wide (13.97cm), and 2" deep (5cm). It weighs 5.9oz (166g).
